Galveston Bay is Texas' largest estuary -
a coastal body of water with a free connection with the open sea – and it starts in your backyard.
Back the Bay aims to improve the environmental quality of Galveston Bay by increasing awareness about the Bay’s value among the public. The campaign educates citizens in the Houston-Galveston region and focuses on three main goals:
- Improving Water Quality
- Conserving Water
- Protecting Critical Fish and Wildlife Habitats
DON’T TRASH A GOOD THING.
- Even if you're miles from the coast, water from storm drains and creeks all over the Houston area finds its way into Galveston Bay. Stopping litter and harmful runoff at the source can make a big difference.
- SAVE WATER HERE – AND THERE
- HELP PRESERVE BAY HABITATS
